This abnormal tissue prevents the normal growth of a fetus.</p><p data-fingerprint="216f3027" data-fingerprint-exact="f1c50683">Treatment is needed to remove the abnormal tissue. Sometimes after the abnormal tissue is removed, it continues to grow in the uterus. This is called gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. It is a form of cancer that can develop from the abnormal tissue.
