Phytochemicals are chemicals found in plants. They are not essential nutrients like vitamins and minerals, but they do have important functions in the body, and they may protect against cancer.

Examples of phytochemicals include:

  • Beta-carotene.
  • Isoflavones.
  • Lutein.
  • Lycopene.
