When your back is aching, getting in and out of bed can be a real challenge.

The key is to do it without twisting or bending.

Here's what you can do: Stand with the back of your legs touching the bed.

Keep your back straight while you bend your knees to sit down.

Reach your hands back toward the bed to help you lower yourself down.

Now tilt sideways toward the bed.

Be sure to keep your back straight.

Use your arms to slowly lower your upper body as you bring your legs up.

If you sleep on your side, put a pillow between your knees to help keep your back straight.

You can also put a small, rolled-up towel under your waist.

If you sleep on your back, put a pillow under your knees.

You can put a towel under the curve of your back.

To get out of bed, lie on your side with your knees bent and make sure you're close to the edge of the bed.

Keep your back straight, and use your arms to push your upper body into a sitting position as you lower your legs to the floor.

Use your hands to push yourself up off the bed.

Taking these steps to keep your back straight can help you get in and out of bed and help you get the rest you deserve.
