Your doctor feels that you are ready for discharge. You are now able to discharge from your inpatient bed and transfer to our Internal Discharge Lounge (E5/345) to wait for your ride. This allows us to start cleaning your old room to prepare it for a new patient.
608-890-5910
UW Health staff will transport you to our Internal Discharge Lounge. There you will meet the clinical staff who will care for you while you wait for your ride.
Contact your ride and give them the phone number to the lounge. Your ride does not need to park in the ramp when they arrive at the hospital. They can drive up to the main entrance and call the lounge. Staff will then take you down to meet your ride at the main entrance.
When you are in the discharge lounge, our staff can provide:
Discharge teaching
Medicine teaching
Blood sugar checks
Vaccines
Insulin
Other medicines as needed
Snacks and drinks, or meals that you can order and eat in the lounge
TV
Phone access and phone charging station
Handicap-accessible restroom
Magazines
Masks and hand sanitizer
We will take you down to the main entrance to meet your ride. If you need to pick up medicine at the outpatient pharmacy, we will help you do that when you leave.
