Bring a dose of pain medicine with you. Give it to your child while you are waiting.
We will cut the cast with a cast saw. This saw is just for cutting casts and will not cut your skin.
We will take x-rays to check for healing and confirm that the pins are ready to be removed.
We will remove the pins. This does not take long. This may be uncomfortable or painful for you.
We will place a splint for protection and comfort. We may use your cast to make this splint.
Wait times are different; bring something to do with you.
Bring a comfort item if you would like (blanket, bear).
If your appointment is at AFCH, a child life specialist may be available to help distract your child. Ask your care team for this option.
