After Your Child’s Kidney (Renal) Biopsy

Your child may have some pain after a kidney (renal) biopsy. This is normal. The pain is most often an ache rather than severe. The pain should lessen daily.

Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) for the pain. Do not use aspirin or ibuprofen for 2 weeks.
There is an increased risk of bleeding with these products.

The biopsy often takes 3-5 business days to fully process. We will call you with the results to discuss treatment and follow-up care.
