You may have swelling, bruising, and spotty bleeding around the incision.

Keep the pressure-dressing on your penis as instructed by your doctor. Change the outer dressing if it becomes soiled. You may be told to remove the dressing after 24 hours.

Keep your wound clean and dry. You may shower 48 hours after surgery. Do not soak in a bathtub, hot tub, whirlpool tub, or swimming pool for two weeks after surgery.

Your stitches should dissolve in about 2-4 weeks.

Follow Up

You will have a follow-up visit in the Urology Clinic in 14 days for wound check.

When to Call

  • Increased redness, swelling, bruising or pain

  • Thick or colored drainage

  • Bleeding causing frequent dressing changes

  • Pain not controlled by pain pills

  • Fevers > 101º F or chills

  • Unable to urinate
